Farewell good friend

I’m gonna miss you……my dear friend.    You have been with me through thick and thin, in good times and in bad.    Thank you so very much!!!

Don’t take it personal, but I have grown so much over the past two years and you are just unable to develop any further.  I don’t mean this to be offensive of course, but the truth is the truth after all.

You see I have to move on with my life and I feel like you are holding me back from my full potential and its truly a shame really. I really would love to take you with me, but I can’t.

Like Ruben Studdard once said….”I’m sorry”

Nevertheless I do remember the good times we shared together.  They will never be forgotten.

You know sometimes we just have to make CHANGES in our lives.  Changes that are for the better.  I know personally I have had to make the decision to move on from those who just decided they were going to hold onto old ways.   I knew that if I continued to hang with them it would be to my detriment, so I made the tough decision to let them go.

As a result….”It was a very good year”!!!!

Since then, I have grown as a person and that is what I am talking about here.   You see i have written lots of times about this thing called Linux, and it has been quite a fantastic voyage indeed.

When I first got started blogging on here I wrote a post about how I got started in Linux and how it’s stimulated my natural curiosity with all the tweaks and modifications I am able to do on my personal machine.  In fact one of those tweaks was something I thought was hilarious check it out here

I ended up choosing Ubuntu as my distro of choice and it served me well for several years.  More specifically Ubuntu 10.10.  If you go to that link you will see how resistant I was to change but I found my resolution in Linux Mint.   Not that there is anything wrong with Ubuntu per se, but I just wanted to try something different.

Thanks Steve!

I know, I know I talked so much of how I enjoyed working with GNOME 2 but we’ve come to the end of the road as far as that goes.  I had to let it go since it is no longer supported anymore and hasn’t been for a good while now.

I was curious about what the experience would be if I went for an even lighter-weight system.    I already had much admiration for Linux Mint 13 as I spoke about here , plus I wanted to use a different desktop rather than choosing Cinnamon which I love, or even Mate, I would go for Xfce and give it a chance.

Talk about being on a slim-fast diet!!!

So here we go….Linux Mint 13 Xfce. This is going to be a brave new frontier for me. Who knows what adventures I will run into this time.
