I’ve got a taste for gingerbread!

This is how it was before I rooted it

I am currently using the LG Optimus V smart phone and while it has been pretty cool except for a few complaints I have decided to root my phone and make some tweaks to it.  Hopefully this will increase the functionality of my phone and help me hold off until I can upgrade to a much more powerful phone.

Going to youtube to look at step by step instructions proved to be a real pain, so I decided to write this in hopes that maybe just maybe you can be spared the foolishness I had to go through.

Let the games begin!!!

I decided to search for GOOD instructions again and I came across http://virginmobilehacks.webs.com/apps/blog/show/12354181-easy-root-method-for-the-lg-optimus-v-gingerbreak-v1-2.

Once I was there I read the instructions and then I was like….How do I install the App to my phone?  Thankfully the answer was provided.  So I removed my SD card from the phone and put it into my laptop, then I  went to my file manager called Astro and seached for the file that was needed.

Then I installed the app called Gingerbreak and ran it.  Once that was done the phone rebooted and, da da da da! my phone was rooted.

I decided to double check just to make sure I rooted it correctly and that will be covered in part 2.
