Just a few minutes ago I check my Facebook page and to my surprise someone had posted about a drink called Ubuntu Cola.
Now of course, I am thinking to myself “this has got to be fake”, and then I started laughing about it. But then, I looked it up and I was happy to see that I’m not crazy, I’m just a little unwell.
“Ubuntu Cola is a soft drink certified by The Fairtrade Foundation. Made with Fairtradesugar from Malawi and Zambia, Ubuntu Cola is the first UK cola to be Fairtrade certified.[1]It is available for sale in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Switzerland and online.[2][3]
It is available in 330 ml cans, 500 ml PET plastic bottles, and 275 ml glass bottles.[3]”
I am happy to see that it is available online as I may very well check it out and if I do, I will let you know how it tastes.
Also, Gizmodo talked about itback in 2007, click here to see what they had to say about it.
I know, I know Ubuntu Cola while its basic philosophy of “kindness to all”, is in harmony with that of the Ubuntu Operating System, that is where the similarities end. For example, the recipe for it is not open-source or freely accessible.
Oh, well. You can’t win em’ all.
Oh, before I forget you might wanna check this out!!!!
