An interview with Mate
Anthony-Hello, My name is Anthony and yours is?
Mate’-Well hello to you too, my name is Mate.
Anthony-G’day mate
Anthony- You know, I have been waiting to do this interview with you for sometime but your schedule has been pretty busy.
Mate-Sorry about that, it took a while to get me ready for the world.
Anthony-Not a problem at all. Really I mean it, but there is something I have been wondering: ”A lot of people got used to Gnome 2, what happened to it?”
Mate-*bursts into laughter*
Anthony-*looks around and wonders why Mate is laughing*
Mate-Looks at Anthony and laughs historically, so hard in fact he is rolling on the floor laughing!!!!
Anthony-*sees Mate changing colors and waits for him to be done* Meanwhile he starts laughing too, when Mate hiccups at the same time he is laughing. Then he asks “Where is Gnome 2″?
Mate-*Starts laughing all over again, regains his composure* and says “OK, OK, I’ll tell you. ” Yes I’ll tell you a story, in fact, it will be a distro story. You ready? “Heeeeerrre we go……..once upon a time not long ago, there was Gnome 2 and he had gotten old. The distros said hey you got to go, and what what they said, was very cold. Gnome 2 got sad and he ran away…..pat pat pat went his feet that day.
All of a sudden the phone rings, Mate pauses for a moment while Anthony answers the phone. He says “hello” and the caller says “hello”. Anthony asks: ”Who is it?” The caller says………I’m Mr Ed. Anthony isn’t sure he heard him right so he asks “who” again” and the caller says after a pause……..”Hello, I’m Mr Ed, I’m Mr Ed”. As it turns out it was a prank caller. Anthony hangs up in disgust and says angrily….”Some people have nothing better to do than to play games on my phone!!!” he regains his composure and then asks Mate to continue his story.
Mate continues…….”He ran around until he got tired, it was so much he nearly expired. He fell asleep and it was all a dream, he then woke up and he had a team”.
Then he stopped and asks: ”Do you get it now Anthony”?
Anthony says “uh…. no! What happened to Gnome 2?
Mate responds: Well, after a while Gnome 2 woke up, while he was in the hospital. But he wasn’t ready for the world. It was suggested after he got patched up that he change his name to Mate since there were some folks that didn’t like him. He agreed to the change and that is how Gnome 2 became Mate.
In short: ”He’s still the same guy, but with power!!!”
