One of the cool things about the Ubuntu community is that we have quite a sense of humor. One area where that sense of humor is seen is when new versions of Ubuntu are named.
Ubuntu releases are also given code names, using an adjective and an animal with the same first letter (e.g. Dapper Drake). With the exception of the first two releases, code names are in alphabetical order, allowing a quick determination of which release is newer. Commonly, Ubuntu releases are often referred to using only the adjective portion of the code name (e.g. Feisty).[8]
So, for example. 9.10, (the one I started off with) was Karmc Koala. Then came; Lucid Lynx, Maverick Meerkat, Natty Narwhal, Oneiric Ocelot, and last but not least, Precise Pangolin.
Precise Pangolin or Ubuntu 12.04 will be released on April 26,2012, but what will its codename be? I entered a contest on Omgubuntu, and chose the name Quick Quail.
Before you start teasing me about it, I know its a lame name, and one they will probably not use. Such a pity. So, I decided to come up with other names, and I am very curious as to which one will actually make the cut.
Both words have to start with a Q. This is kinda hard, lol!!!
1. Quipping Quoll
2. Quipping Quail
3. Quipping Quagga
I keep using the word “quipping” because its creative. I means to make a witty remark which is something I am known to do by my friends. I am so mad I didn’t use it.
It would be between Quoll and Quagga. Now that I think about it I doubt it will be quail but who knows?
With that said, what do you think? Do you agree with the name’s I have chosen. Please share with me what you have thought of. This will be very interesting, indeed.

Quintessential Quelea
Lol! Quintessential Quetzal
Quarky Quail? I’m planning to move back to Xubuntu anyway; working with XFCE under Gnome Linux is kind of slow.
lol! I like that. How did you feel about my picks?
It should be Quirky Quail, sorry for the wrong word.
These two animals aren’t particularly well-known, though.
its fine and I know. Ocelot isn’t very well known though.
Are you from Australia?
As much as I am fond of the local wildlife I am not
So I am.
Most people would shout “cute” at koalas.
Yes, that sounds about right
Yes, quirky. I thought something was off there.
I was thinking quarky something myself. Quintessential is too long. I picked Quelea because it’s a South African bird. Maybe a connection to ubuntu is too obvious.
